Physical inactivity has been becoming a great concern which consumes healthcare expenditure and reduces life quality. On the other hand, regular exercise is proved to have beneficial effect on promoting health and treating disease. From a project centered on promoting physical activity, "Physical activity in the prevention and treatment of disease" was published by the PROFESSIONAL ASSOCIATIONS FOR PHYSICAL ACTIVITY SWEDEN (YRKESFÖRENINGAR FÖR FYSISK AKTIVITET, YFA) in 2003. Providing updated scientific knowledge in utilizing physical activity as a method of treatment and prevention of non-communicable diseases, the first publish created great concern in Sweden. |
| With 47 chapters, the book aims to be a reference tool for medical staff to prescribe physical activity containing recommendations on proper physical activity and the potential risk of physical activity. The Norweigian, English and Vietnamese version of the book was published after that. |
