“These kinds of physical activity always turn me on!” – Ms. Huyen Anh said.
During the recent visit to Vietnam of Associate Professor. Ingeborg van Der Ploeg, a member of Advisory board and a dear friend, Dinh Tien Hoang Institute of Medicine (DTHIM) and FSH group have held a jogging event named “Walkathon: Ingeborg and Friends” on the last November 15th. Other participants included Asso. Prof Ingeborg, Gabriella, M.S, FSH members and cadres and lecturers of Hanoi Medical University.
The mentioned event was held in the Unity park, which is the green lung of the city as well as the favourite training place of capital people. The Walkathon program was divided into two parts: the walking session around Bay Mau lake for warm-up and the 100-metre sprint for the secret gifts. The walking session started at 7 a.m, immersing in Hanoi autumn fresh air in a sunny Sunday morning. Along that roughly 2-kilometre route, participants of the event were accompanied by many Hanoian, who were also practicing enthusiastically: the elders doing their Tai-chi exercises, middle-age people moving their bodies along the beat of music, and the youth jogging everywhere.
After the friendly warm-up came the highly intense 100-metre sprint. With the attendance of almost all the participants, the sprint was extremely competitive from the start to the finish line. In the end, the two secret gifts were given to the first two people, Mrs. Gabriella and Ms. Nguyen Thi Huyen Anh, representing Sweden and Vietnam.
“Walkathon: Ingeborg and Friends” took place with an intimate and friendly air. Through this event, people had chance to meet up, build up network as well as to have some chitchat with friends after long time no see. Said to the organizers, Ms. Huyen Anh – the winner of the sprint: “These kinds of physical activity always turn me on! I expect that similar events will be organized to raise the awareness of community to the role of physical activity to health.”
